Sunrise in the Pigeon River valley

Welcome to the garden. Now in our second season,  we aim to create a functional and beautiful space within which to operate a successful cut flower farm as well as establishing culinary and medicinal herb gardens which will be both informative and attractive.  As we went about the process of selecting flowers and herbs  this winter,  we found our ideas and goals for Genesis Gardens coming together. What was  important was, indeed, to create a place where flowers loved to grow. By providing the best quality ingredients (from the super sandy-loam Ten Acre Garden soil to heirloom, open-pollinated seed), we feel sure our flowers and herbs will be spectacular.

We are at the Historic Waynesville Farmer’s Market (at the HART Theater) on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and our  u-pick season for flowers will open around the second or third week in June. It will begin with many varieties of zinnias and sunflowers, which will continue through September and into October. Although we specialize in sunflowers and zinnias,  we grow more than thirty other varieties of flowers. We are currently supplying weekly flowers for Waynesville restaurants The Bourbon Barrel and The Sweet Onion as well as working with local florists. Last season we were thrilled to be a part of several weddings. It gave us a lot of pleasure to watch brides and bridesmaids picking their own flowers. We will, of course, do the picking for you if you prefer.  Please also think of us for parties and events. Under ‘Posts’ you’ll find pictures of all the flowers and fillers we are growing this year. We promise to try to keep the website updated with specific availability information.

Danny Barrett of The Ten Acre Garden is our partner in this endeavor. Without his wisdom and knowledge this would not be possible.
